So we're having a problem (for the second time) with the escape hatch crank mechanism on our 2024 Escape 5.0. ETI After Sales says it's a known problem and they will be changing suppliers for the escape hatch in the future.

They offered to repair my hatch, under warranty, at a local RV shop or just send me the crank mechanism and I could DIY (which I opted to do.)

However ETI just called back saying that while they have the crank mechanism in stock, since it's made in China and due to the recent tariffs, they will need my Social Security # in order to ship it to me (at no cost) in the US. I refused to provide my SS# and asked if they could send the part to a local RV shop where I could pick it up. ETI is looking into this option and will get back to me.

Just curious, has anyone else encountered this? (Maybe I'm being overly paranoid)

They are in the process of sending me a new regulator setup for propane but I haven’t been asked for anything more than my address. They did say that one of their trucks going to the States was sent back because it didn’t have the right paperwork for the Chinese parts. That was about 2 weeks ago and they said they were working on a new process for shipping. I’ll let you know if I hear from ETI on any delays for my regulator.

Yes. They were going to send me a new light and needed my SS# for same reason. The light wasn't that important to me, so I elected not to give my SS# and forgo the light.

Interesting, I have a new decal trailer name in the mail as we speak (I'm in Wisconsin) and they haven't asked me anything other than for payment. It seems from the descriptions above they are asking for a SSN for warranty work?

No, not necessarily just warranty work, but country of origin.
ETI said that my part originally came from China, which is why they needed my SSN to ship it from Canada to the US. I suspect that's not the case with your decal (& perhaps RambleOn's propane regulator). But I'm guessing that Penny's light also originated in China which is why they asked for her SSN as well.
