My gas water heater was working for the last week when I was boondocking. When my fresh tank was near empty I lost hot water. I emptied my gray and black tanks and filled back up at a new camp site. Now I have a full fresh water tank, and I’ve left my water heater on the whole time. Still no hot water. Am I not getting water to run through the water heater? Any suggestions?

No hot water at either kitchen OR bathroom? Remember the fresh water tank replenishes the water heater with water. It's a pressurized system and if there's not enough water to replenish the water heater there's nothing to push the hot water through to the faucets. How's the water pump?

Pressure is great. I checked the tank from the pressure release valve and there’s water in there

Leaving the hot water heater "on" when empty can result in the high temperature cutoff being tripped. It is a very easy check - just push both reset buttons and try turning on the system again.

I was able to turn the water heater on and off and get the pilot light re lit. I switched over to my other propane tank… not sure the first one was empty yet but just tried a few things out. Thanks for everyone’s help!
