Love my zero gravity chair. But it's heavy and for short stops it's a bit of a nuisance to get it out and set up. Plus when you tilt it back and it's on the slatted rug it tends to pull it apart.

I've long wished for an old time aluminum lounge chair and I've even looked at buying a restored one on ebay. I almost fell over in shock when I saw a discarded one in a lane. It had definitely seen better days but the main things, the frame and arms were intact and usable.

So home it went. I stripped it and used scotch brite to remove the surface corrosion and waxed it up to protect it from salt near saltwater and sprayed the faded yellow arms with Krylon. I installed new webbing, threw on my lounge mattress and was happy that it was almost as comfortable as my zero gravity chair.

Still love my zero gravity chair but now it has some competition. :)

I’ve rewebbed a couple that we got the first year we were married (1970) from my sister in law for Christmas. Alas the rivits are pretty shakey now so they’ve been relegated to the museum of recreation memories with the coleman catylitic killer Er heater, white gas can, collapsing stove stand ( and not for just storage) and though still like new, the down sleeping bags, which only come out for road trips in the winter as she’s sure we will go in the ditch somewhere and freeze to death without them. What am I missing?
