Where are they?

We just returned from a 76 day journey of the northwest US. We spent the majority of out time in Washington and Oregon. We were totally surprised to see so few Escape trailers. We did see some, 4 or 5, but saw probably twice that number of Casitas. If you happen to attend any fiberglass gathering in the South nowadays, Escapes will be the dominant trailer there. We see more Escapes than Casitas on the road down here now. I found it strange that there were so few in their home territory. After further thought, it could be that if one camps in the South, a trailer is almost a necessity. Everywhere we camped during those 76 days, tents were the dominant shelter.

Lots of miles of roads in the USA and Canada. Then consider the hours in a day that people travel and the fact that Escapes aren’t used for weeks at a time or are parked in long term sites and it’s probably a wonder that you see any at all. . Rallies and the days before and after in the vicinity of the rally site are the notable exception. We’ve taken to traveling roads other than Interstates much of the time. We watch for them but don’t see many.

Before the farms became bigger and bigger in Iowa causing sections of country roads to be closed or derated to level B or C maintenance little bitty Iowa had 100,000 miles of roads within its borders. Lots of routes to get to grandma’s house and lots of farm field drives to facilitate a low rent rendezvous and I’m not talkin’ trailer gatherings. I wish I was 18 again, going back where l’ve already been.

We've been on the road, mostly in the Northeast for about 3:weeks and 4,000 miles and we've seen exactly 1 Escape, a 5.0 in Quebec.

Agree about the number of Casitas on the road. If I didn't know better, I'd say they are hooking up at rest stops and multiplying.

Jerry we had the same experience driving to Newfoundland from Kansas and back although ours was only a 41 day trip instead of 76 days. My only explanation for this phenomenon besides the possibility that some Escapes are nocturnal is that Escapes are stealthy in their escapes.

We had our first experience with seeing Escape trailers last summer when we saw two Escape 19s in an RV park in Blanding, UT. One from WA, the other from OR. Having read about them, seeing them solidified my quest for an Escape of my own. We were steered by ETI (Kyle) to look at a 21C near us in Texas, and shortly there after, we put in our order for a 2024 E23 F1. Picking it up in Chilliwack in October.

Last month, while on a roadtrip (sans trailer) to Calgary and Vancouver, we saw three Escapes. One had just crossed the border at Eastport (Hwy 95) driving north. The other two were heading east on Canada 1 not far from Chilliwack. Those two were 17s while the first one was a 19.

Other than those three, we only saw Casitas and 3 Bigfoots.

Now that we have our 21C, there are 5 Escapes in Corvallis, OR. Perhaps it's time for a new Escape rendevous location? ;)

I guess the point I was attempting to make is that Escapes seem to be everywhere in TX, LA, MS, & AL.
It seems almost impossible to visit a popular campground without seeing a number of them.

We're out traveling around the country. We left WA on March 30th. Traveled to the east coast and are now outside Calgary. We'll get home in about 3 weeks. Total trailer distance about 9k miles.

Shearwater - we were in Quebec about 3 weeks ago. Maybe that was us.

Casita 10 Escape 1

We had a trip this summer from Nor Cal up to Eureka then on to Oregon from Bandon/Coos Bay to Joseph. We saw about ten Casitas and one Escape.

I created an Escape Campers West Coast group that we can share camping sites and adventures with each other. Please join if you are interested.

We went on 3 trips with ours this year, didn't see another.

3 People asked about it though. 2 just because and 1 as we pulled up across from a Trillium and he wanted to vent about how much he hated dealing with them and their customer service and how many things he had go wrong already.

I routinely travel along some very busy RV routes in Alberta, and have only come across about a dozen other ETI trailers out "in the wild" over the past decade.

The majority of my Escape sightings occurred last year in the BC interior, during my post-delivery drive back to Calgary from Chilliwack .

In fact, any sighting of a modern molded FG trailer is rare in these parts. I've only ever encountered one or two newer Bigfoot, Scamp, or Casita trailers in recent times. I've never come across an Armadillo, Oliver, or even a Trillium Outback (and they are manufactured here).

Vintage Boler and Trillium units are a pretty common sight though......

Two years ago in the Schoodic Woods campground in Acadia National Forest (Maine), we were joined by two other Escapes, prompting a camp host to ask if this was a rally. I mentioned this in the Sightings thread at the time.

It is curious. We've noticed this too. We recently did a 4100 mile trip around the west and southwest and only saw one Escape on the highways. Got home and saw four around Port Angeles the first few days we were home.

I've covered, literally, all of North America. A few states I haven't been to but N-S and E-W. I've found sightings so random it's hard to define. Many have been a bit of a surprise because they've been in out of the way places and weren't expected. Like once in Alaska and along came Jon and once in the Rockies, along came Mike. :)

I usually don't see oncoming Escapes until there's very little time to wave, sometimes no time at all. I always wonder if it's someone from the forum or someone I've actually talked to in person.
