Where have people located a Bluetooth external temperature devise on their 5.0TA?

We were just in over 100 degree temp while camping (Big Bend National Park - Rio Grande Campground) and would like to have an external gauge local on our 5.0TA. Suggestions?

Don’t have one. But … Under the over hang where the fifth wheel connects to the trailer. Out of direct sun would give the most accurate temperature.

Yes, Occer has it right. The objective is, as much as possible, to keep the sensor out of the direct sun and away from sources of heat transfer. I used some heavy marine velcro to attach my temperature sensor to the inside of the king pin box, just as Occer indicated. I suspect that it still reads a bit higher than the true ambient air temperature, but it does the job for us.

I used epoxy to attach a rare earth magnet to the back of a sensor and attach it to the rear of pinbox underneath the overhang rather than inside the pinbox thinking it is more “out in the open” for airflow. I don’t know if it would make any difference if it were inside the pinbox. I typically remove and store it for travel in the landing gear compartment, but on a couple of occasions I have forgotten to do so but the magnet is strong enough to keep it from falling off. I did verify that it is accurate using a standard “mercury” (red liquid) tube thermometer at shaded spots in various camp sites when I first started using the electronic thermometer. FWIW, both thermometers were always within a half degree of each other and usually displayed the exact same temperature. My electronic thermometer is made by Ambient Weather. The main unit displays the inside temperature and what is recorded by three remote sensors monitoring the outside temperature, the refrigerator and the freezer temperatures.

I used heavy duty velcro to mount the sensor to the back of the pin box. I leave it mounted year round and change the battery each spring.

We bought a basic indoor outdoor thermometer from ACE, that way if we loose it, it’s no big deal. I fashioned a high tech hanger for the outdoor sensor out of a coat hanger and hang it in an area that is shaded. The indoor display not only helps us monitor indoor temp, but reminds us to retrieve the outdoor sensor before we break camp.

Ours is attached with heavy velcro to the top of the left (passenger) side of the front storage compsrtments behind the propane tanks.Basically under our pillows. Batteries changed every spring.

most of the indoor/outdoor remote thermometers I've bought, they state in very fine print, not to mount the outdoor sender where they will get soaked with water. Thats things like this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07L82PF1Z

Well, that Thermpro model says the sensor is waterproof. We have that very same model here at our house and it does quite well out in the elements plus it has an amazingly strong signal.

yeah, dig into their website, find the specification page, its IPX3, which is resistant to spraying/splashing water thats no more than 60 degrees from vertical... on the outside of a trailer traveling at highway speeds in a rainstorm, sorry, thats just not good enough.

Interesting.

I loosely tiewrapped mine to the clamp bar on my propane tanks, under the tank cover. sure, that slows down temp changes, and if the sun is on it, it can read hotter than actual, but its well protected

mine is wireless to a little display panel I put on the counter, but has no computer or phone connectivity. It reads inside and outside temp and humidity.

Which Bluetooth thermometers are people using?
I believe it was @vermilye who mentioned the SensorPush HT1 which I've had for about a year, still on original battery.

Humidity and temperature, data logging, you can set alerts, I'm happy with it, mine 'roams' between fridge, freezer, electrical 'utility bay', and wherever else I want it. The App (iPhone and iPad in my case) can manage multiple units if desired.

It seems I might be the only one who can tell closely what the temperature is just being outside. I am usually only inside if it is storming out. I don't deal with the super high stuff up here, and travel south in mid-winter.

I got carried away with the Sensor Push devices - one for outside (in my 5" fence post under the trailer used to store my folding ladder), one in the freezer, one in the fridge, and one in a bag I keep my medicine in (some eye drops have a narrow temperature storage range).
