Where to fill up propane tanks when picking up new Escape?

I went looking for the free sani-dump once and didn't find it. Found the rec centre, but not the dump. Any pointers there?

its on the other side of the freeway from ETI (south side)

you see it on the Freeway heading east. Take Lickman Exit go south turn left immediately after going over the freeway.

Right on the same ground as the Visitors Centre and the Heritage Museum

Hi Glenn hope this helps.

Exit Lickman Road from HWY 1, go 1 block south to traffic light, turn east on Lukakuk Way, sani dump is on the right in the parking lot just before the red Heritage Park barns.

Cheers

... for newer tanks, I can't see paying the high cost of an exchange tank that's in worse condition than my empty, especially when there are lots of propane dealers.
I absolutely agree. One approach is to refill your own tank until it is almost expired, then do one exchange which will get you a tank which will average about halfway through its life; refill that one until it is almost expired, and repeat.

Of course, for a new owner just picking up an Escape with brand-new tanks, it would be nonsensical to exchange... and still not worth worrying about if someone had to do that.

After a full year of driving two kilometers out of my way to buy gas at a Husky so I could get BCAA points, I saved $12 on my BCAA membership. Figure I was making about four cents an hour for the time involved.

That story sounds familiar.

I was at Costco today and saw the tanks with the float gauges on them. I can't wait to replace my current tanks with this type as their certified to dates come due. Any info on how these gauges perform long term?

I've had the Manchester version of this for a few years and it's fine, but haven't used it much, so my experience might not be much of an indicator.

The reason that these float-operated gauges have become common is that the OPD includes a float anyway, so the incremental cost and complexity of a gauge isn't bad. The OPD float is going to keep working; it's a safety feature so it needs to be decently reliable, and I've never heard of a problem. At least in the Manchester Sure-Flame design, the gauge on the outside is linked to the float on the inside by a magnetic coupling through the brass body of the valve, so there is no extra hole or seal. Manchester even takes advantage of this to make the display dial a clip-on part, so if gets damaged you just use another one, without replacing the tank or anything built into it.

Costco.ca is currently showing the Bernzomatic tank with gauge. It's hard to see the detail, but Bernzomatic is a brand of Worthington, so it will be a Worthington tank (product 336483), not a Manchester Sure-Flame. Worthington and Manchester seem to be the two major manufacturers of propane cylinders in North America.

This kind of thread makes my hair start on fire. Ten Forward is now a Toddler... almost 26 months old. I still have both ETI propane tanks with enough propane to cook a steak dinner (inside!)

Stop worrying about the "stuff." If after your orientation and initial campout to check the systems.... GO, just go. Propane is available lots of places. You just spent $$$ on your custom ETI build. At this point saving (x) on propane because you buy from one place vs another going to change your pleasure? REALLY?

Propane usage isn't a big deal for ME. I'm a typical NW camper. Always hooked up and I KNOW where I can get propane if needed. $40 to fill a tank or $10 to fill the same tank is minor compared to sitting at home on the couch. Make MEMORIES!

YMMV
Brilliant! LOL

Yup, Donna tells it like it is. :)

That's always been our way of doing things. Just take the first step and go. The rest will take care of itself.

6 years on mine and still as accurate as when first bought. When on the end of the green it is 1/2 full or 1/2 empty depending on how you view life.
