Why an Escape?????????

Maybe he didn't want to wait (schedule) to have a custom ETI trailer? Airstreams are available at dealers. I could buy a brand new one today about 15 miles from my house.

Humm, I'm not thinking troll. Sometimes folks join forums or Facebook or whatever expecting other folks to give them "permission." I'm not sure the OP was expecting an answer as much as his decision was Okay.

It's like knowing the difference when someone is asking BEFORE they make the decision (opinion) or AFTER they've made the decision (acceptance). I think the OP was asking for acceptance. Wrong forum to ask THAT question...

Glen, my guess is the troll got his giggle from all the Escape owners posting their answers.
Perhaps he/she/it is someone with a sticky or some sticky dealer?

Anyway, it gave some Escape Owners an excuse to post their views.

There is software on this forum to foil the spammers. Second line of defense are the moderators and then there is administration and IT.
I fail to see what advantage or satisfaction would be gained by the person who made the original post. What would be their purpose?

I believe he is legit and saw the Escape ad and wants to know about it. I only hope he has a TV that can meet the numbers. I remember when I did not know what RV meant but my husband did, but we did not buy for quite a while after that so as to know about all of the considerations. By the way, we looked at Airstreams and have an Escape for all of those reasons mentioned above.

That tells me something. I passed an rv dealer in Texas a couple of days ago that must have had 50 or 60 airstreams sitting on the lot.

Think I read they are making many thousands of them. Of course, many are bought for the nostalgia and the good looks without consideration of much else. Can't knock nostalgia and good looks and the attention they must get. Everyone has reasons and theirs may be as good as ours.

According to Wiki they make 2,000 trailers and motorhomes a year and have 475 employees.

Oh, that is much less than I read. Wonder if yours is right. I know I was surprised at the very big number I saw. Think I will edit that!

The number I would focus on is the number of employees, keeping in mind how many are accountants and personal assistants and how many call in sick on Monday. Can't imagine 475 building a thousand trailers a week.

Perhaps that was all of Thor... which currently shows eleven brands on the their website, although I thought they had more at one point. For one thing, they have collapsed at least two previous brands (including mine) into their current motorhome division (Thor Motor Coach); the same may have occurred in trailers, although of course Airstream remains distinct (even if they do now have Class B motorhomes that are nothing like the aluminum trailers).

Yes, could be it was the number for Thor. I know that is one of the biggest makers.

By the way, Wally Byam was copying the Bowlus when he designed the Airstream --- hope that is correct because I just read it five minutes ago. The Bowlus was re-introduced recently. $110,000 and over 5,000 rivets.
