As we work through our 19 we are considering changing the upholstery, we can recover the valances. We began to think of an alternative and wonder if someone else has a suggestion. Do they serve a purpose beyond hiding the blind? We are thinking of removing them completely.

One of the first things we did to our 2014 E19 was remove the valances. Have since changed the upholstery also. To our eyes the valances served no purpose and it looks much cleaner without them. Certainly a matter of opinion.

We replaced our kitchen window valance with a hanging utensil rack. Keeps them handy, and when the sun is right makes interesting shadows on the opposite wall as a bonus. This is a 5.0, your window size may be different in a 19.

Most creative, David. Just ordered my 5.0 without any window treatments. Planning on traditional curtains in the dinette & bed areas inspired by your curtains. Hadn't yet considered what to do in the kitchen. Hmmm.

Be well,
Lorraine

I covered mine with oak veneer

I covered mine with oak veneer that comes with a hot melt glue on the backside. You use a household iron to bond it to the plywood valance, trim the veneer and varnish it. I liked it more than the custom fabric covering. I radiused the corners some with a disc sander prior to veneering.

Search the forum...I posted pictures of the valances

Edit: found a pic, but not the post. After & Before valances
