Winter cover for 5.0TA

What are good covers that people are wrapping their campers in for winter. I had one from Escape that I used last year and our Maine winter caused a few small tears. Yesterday our day of high winds destroyed it completely, ripping it off the camper and basically shredding it......velcro strips are not going to work and it appears the connected tie downs cant handle our weather either..........all thoughts appreciated, thanks......Michael

You can do a search on winter cover and find a bunch of previous discussions on the matter. Here's an entry I made in one of the threads.

Sounds like the cheapest of the Adco brand, it just shredded at the end of the 2nd winter. I've had 3 different covers in 15 years, 6 years from the Tyvek Adco, 2 years from what Adco calls the Aquashed, and now 5+ years with the Calmark. The Tyvek one started to get holes in the corners and eventually the side panels (non Tyvek), just fell apart. The Calmark has no sign of wear as yet but is very heavy to work with in the 5.0TA size.

Our 2007 Escape 17B came with a winter cover. There were marks in the fiberglass from it blowing in the wind. Also the shine was worn off the upper corners. I am not at all a fan of covers. Find a barn for your trailer for the winter. Mine is warm and dry from October to June, sharing company with a herd of Mustangs, Ford Mustangs, not four legged Mustangs.

You do have to take step to keep any cover from billowing in the wind. I ran a series of straps around the trailer about even with the belly band. Not the easiest thing given the shape of the front of the fifth wheel but it can and should be done.

Does one need an industrial washing machine to clean these covers, or can you do it at home? :ermm:
