I follow a couple of groups on Facebook. Someone mentioned it was snowing in Calgary and they needed to winterize their all molded towable.

GAG, so for some... summer camping is over? OMG I'm sooo not ready for this.

When do YOU need to winterize? AND POOPS on those that head south to get out of the freezing weather (JEALOUS ;D)

Donna, I read today that 7 US States are going to get snow within days...they said it is an early winter coming...need to get that global warming under control!

No snow in Calgary so far ...think we are to have a fairly long dry fall .......but the mountain views from Calgary are white...

Key feature of global warming is extreme temperature swings, weather events.
Just sayin.

Supposed to freeze in Winnipeg Thursday night. Winterization is becoming top of mind.

To me there is winterizing and then really winterizing. A couple of nights with temperatures around feeling may cause me to leave a little electric dehumidifier plugged in which is about the heat of a 100 watt light. This way on those cool fall weekends the trailer is still ready to fully use. But when they are calling for snow or cold snap then I'll drain the fresh and water heater and winterize the lines. Then I'll be ready for winter camping.

Overnight freezing, where the days warm up again are not an issue. It is when the freezing is sustained, as in not warming above freezing during the day. Heck, I have been camping with my Escape lots of times where overnight lows have dropped a ways below 0°C.

It is snowing in my part of Calgary right now  Yuck...

That said, we don't intend to winterized until after Canadian Thanksgiving, though the 12V heat pads could get turned on a few times between now & then, depending on the weather.

You must be way up north somewhere , all we have in the south is rain drizzle - was just out and didn't even feel as cool as expected ...

It has been snowing for a couple hours now. Temps just above freezing though. C'mon up for a snowball fight, Gabi. :)

I hope you are hooked up to electric before using the 12v heat pads, they pull a lot of current. In addition they are thermostatically controlled and they activate at freezing and shut off at 40 degrees. I assume you also have the foam which really keeps the tanks warmer.

Of course. Already used for a significant amount of time in April and May of this year! A very pricey option, which was quickly proved to be an appropriate choice for our location/use.

Drained my hot water tank and found ice flakes in it. Supposed to get colder tonight!
