Wish List?

Hi Reace and Tammy,
I was wondering if you considered (for the 17&19) larger fresh and grey water tanks, battery inside and sewage tube inside (our Trail Cruiser had that) but most importantly the larger tanks.

I too would be in favour of larger tanks if they could fit. I thought the battery was to be inside on the 19, though Reace would have to confirm (I could be thinking of another manufacturer). Curious as to how the sewage tube would fit inside, would it not take up some fo the storage space, though it would lend to a cleaner look outside.

fresh tank and plumbing inside would be cool - actually would be warm. And not frozen.

The sewage hose was in a 36" tube (much like Escape) but inside under the bed with a small outside door to access the collapsable hose.
Here is a pick I found of it, you can see the small access door to the right.

I have the water tank in my existing stick-built inside, and it takes way longer to freeze as long as the heat is on, and if I leave the interior access door open to it, I can go a ways below freezing with it. The trouble is though, is that the waste water freezes in the grey tank, so we have to do dishes and such in a wash pan and through it out in the bushes. For draining the fresh water in cold temps, the drain valve needs to be right at the tank, and not outside like mine is too, as the water in the valve freezes even if temps are nice inside.

That definitely looks neater Rob.

I hope I didn't send anyone down the wrong road, I only meant that the hose for emptying the tanks is kept inside, the tanks and valves are still outside, just the dirty hose is kept out of eyes sight and has a clean appearance without a PVC pipe attached to the rear bumper like the current Escape. Just my wish.

I would definitely give up storage space under the bed in the 19 for what ever tank or tanks could be located there.

I would echo the larger fresh & grey water tank.. Since we're from SF Bay Area the freezing aspect is a tad 'mute'..

as a side thought:
I always thought it would be better to flush the toilet with Grey Water as to help with the conservation of both the Fresh & grey capacities.. not too sure what would be required to accomplish.

Freezing of the tanks to us is not a concern, when its that cold out we stay at the Holiday Inn not the Holiday trailer ;D

Friends of ours have one of the first Escapes and the sewer hose had been located inside.... the previous owners had changed it to outside storage which our friends would have done if it hadn't been done already. Sewer hoses often drip water from being flushed out, this isn't clean water by any means. If the hose is inside there would have to be a way to drain that water. I would hate to have to drill holes in the shell to let the water out and leaving it sealed in the storage section would lead to all kinds of nasty growth..... I'm for keeping it outside of the shell and living space.

I would think you could seal the tube well, have it angled slightly down to the access hatch, an have some kind of drain there no unlike that at the gas filler on a car where a tube drains down.

All that said, I am not real partial either way. Inside does leave cleaner lines outside, but does take up some storage room. If it was up high in the storage area it would not be that bad though.

Jen is right...in the early days, we did put the sewer hose inside exactly like your photo Rob. It was not received well as most owner's installed a tube on the exterior. Either the tube inside was not long enough to accomodate a heavy duty long hose or they would leak. We had them tied up so any water (or whatever) would drain out but they would get knocked around with storage and become a problem.

I agree this creates cleaner lines but....I'm sticking with the majority request....sewer hose outside.

The battery on the 19' will be located inside similar to the 5.0.

I am currently trying to source larger holding tanks for the 19' (no guarantees). The 17' is about as large as possible with the current design.

I too would rather have the sewer hose stored outside. The tube itself could also be cleaned easier. Another vote for outside...at least on my 17'.

What the heck.. Since its a vote .. I'm going for the outside as well. On that subject of voting I could probably put up a separate section called "feedback" that has polls in it so it counts the answers and puts up some kind of bar graph of the results..

Reace, my Casita had 24 gal fresh water and 24 gallon gray water. A little larger anyway. I sure wish the Escape's fresh/gray was larger. For those of us who like to "boon dock" it, that is our limiting factor.
