Thanks Tammy for the update. Seems every day here in the US we face another bureaucracy imposing new rules, and it's too bad you folks were affected by this. Good to hear you've made some progress.
After November we may all be living up there and It will not be a problem anyway.

Hi: captmath... I can see it all now!!! Long lines of Escape trailers at the border crossings migrating north. Usually a time when things start to wind down... this Movemember could be a busy travel month. AlfAfter November we may all be living up there and It will not be a problem anyway.

Hang in there Tammy! I have to add my apology for the US putting you (and the others) through all this!

Hello Everyone
After some 'strong' discussions this morning
...I do not recommend anyone challenging their customs officer when he gives you his opinion(Lets just say I won't be crossing the border for a little while)

I am not a patient person especially given the circumstances and I have been speaking with the US Customs Officers at the Sumas, WA border crossing on a daily basis. Ultimately until we show up in their system or they receive written consent from NHSTA we cannot import trailers.

Always make an accurate assessment of the power you hold in any Situation before you act.
That's the right tack. The border officials aren't the police. They have a charter with a very specific set of responsibilities and powers. If they exceed those, the best approach is to be respectful, end the encounter as quickly and peaceably as possible, then make a complaint through official channels. Believe me, the ones who are a problem will be found out if the citizenry complains enough about them.I agree law enforcement officers have a lot of discretionary power, but we should not fear them but respect them. Let's not forget, we pay their salaries, they work for us. Now if thry ask for a raise, that is another subject......
I would show them a lot of respect, because they do wield a lot of power.
