I just ordered one of these to mount on the rear bumper. I already have the base plate and I think it will be a neat place to carry those hand tools and spare parts we all need to travel with.

I think it's funny that the toolbox is disguised as a fuel can so it appears to be less worth stealing... and there are people who will try to steal it because they believe it is a fuel can. Will they be disappointed to find tools?

It's a slick idea, particularly for a small SUV that is short of interior space and has a rear rack for this kind of stuff, but I don't think I'd want one on an Escape... but of course presents are all about personal preferences. :)

It is a neat tool box. In addition to the risk of being stolen, I would be a bit concerned about contents being continually wet from being exposed to rain and road spray.

Ahh the old Campbell's soup can home safe. Looks like it would work to me. If one was worried about theft, one could put less valuable things in there and the good stuff inside or in the tow vehicle. Or if you happen to catch a coyote with fleas out on your trapline the fleas would not jump off in your vehicle when the host cools off. Have to skin him in the field to make him fit though.
