Yet another Texan headed to Chilliwack!

Would someone PLEASE turn off the weather machine up there before we leave San Antonio next week!! Pretty sure Fred and Dora would like it turned off NOW!

No worries Dave. As you can see in the photo, I have nerves of steel.

I'm SO glad you got through Portland before last night. We've got a foot of snow on the ground right now and it's still snowing. ALL vehicles must have chains for the surface streets.

The weather looks much better the further south in Oregon. We'll get above freezing over the weekend, then rain (so they say.)

Gonna wait it out at Seven Feathers Casino tonight and tomorrow night. Will make a directional decision Friday morning.

Regards,

We live part time in Tahoe. Since we are talking about snow, I thought you might enjoy this picture of our driveway on Tuesday. Another foot fell after this picture was taken. Another 10" is expected tomorrow. We haven't seen a plow go down the street since the snow started on Monday.

Snow is always welcome in Tahoe, but this is getting crazy!

I read someplace that the snow on the Pacific side is heavy snow, Sierra Sludge is the nickname and once it goes over the top, on the eastern side, it becomes light and fluffy.

Reminiscent of the storm the Donner Party encountered in that same region traveling West by wagon train back in the 1840's! Unimaginable situation and challenges for them. We are truly bless in this day and age. Be safe everyone....

Folks that get a lot of snow are probably just laffing at us wimpy Portland people. That's the problem, it's not normal for us. Few people have traction tires let alone chains. Our tires are made for RAIN. They work great on wet streets, not on snow/ice. Add that to our city is not flat, but hills and that's a recipe for disaster.

Donna, Morning Edition on NPR had a story about your unusual weather. Best part was that they said that the current weather pattern should move out soon - I hope it does!

Morning' Eric. Projected weather forecast is for low of 45 degrees/high of 48 degrees on Tuesday. Flip-flop, shorts and t-shirt weather coming up in five days!

Well we are 200 miles east of Snoqualmie and we have our share of wet heavy snow that the snowblower can't handle! :)

I couldn't handle it any longer and HAD to get out of the house. It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood! Still flippin' cold at 27 degrees, but not a cloud in the sky, bright sun and blue, blue ceiling. Roads in the area are now sheets of ice over packed snow. But I made it to the closest convenience store and home without hitting anything or anyone. I call that success! :thumb:

Smart move!!!

Stay put!!!

Escape the weather!!!

YOU GOT IT ALL:ermm: !!!

Hmmm...Escape the weather...

OK. Because of the stuff happening in Portland, we left Seven Feathers Casino in Canyonland, OR and headed for the coast. Rode HWY 101 and wound up at the Inn at Cannon Beach. Very nice ride today and a beautiful view of the Oregon beaches.

Smart, very smart... although I would have waved at you as you slid by Portland.

Continued safe travels! :thumb:
