2018 F150 Arrived
The dealer emailed me while I was on a plane home from DC tonight to let me know my new truck arrived early. Wasn't due till next Wednesday so good news. The 2015 lease is up early next week. It's been a great truck and a pleasure to tow with, but I'm looking forward to the 2018 model's additional features. The new one will be very similar to the old one, except the 2.7L EcoBoost is now port and direct injected, and paired with a 10 speed tranny. Other changes are Pro Trailer Backup Assist (a novelty but it might be cool), the power folding and telescoping trailer tow mirrors, and improvements to the sync system. Equipment wise, the rest will be pretty much the same as my current Lariat. And, it'll finally be a color I wanted (ruby red metallic) instead of settling for due to the limited availability back in 2015. I'll post some photos once I pick it up.

Sweet! Sounds like a great truck. Let us know how the 10 speed trans works out. Should help with gas mileage.

I'm thinking so, Mike. No idea if the mpg increase will be enough to notice however. The EPA estimate is unchanged.

You might be tempted to watch the heavily prom'd Truck Night in America on History channel. I recorded it and lasted six minutes before deleting it from my PVR.
Too stupid for words.

Couldn't be any more stupid than the Chevy commercials where they either drop cinder blocks from height into a truck bed, or stick a conference room table in the middle of a freeway.

Or claim you'll look like a pro.
Just saw the Toyota ad where the guy comes upon a fallen tree, bucks it up, takes it home ( in his truck ) and builds a canoe. I don't take offense, but I like canoes.

You should bring it up to the Escape Rally.

Oh joy another “ fix or repair daily “ or “ found on road side dead “ vehicle just kidding the 18 are sharp I would have bought one but for me the seats weren’t comfortable for my back n to get what I wanted I would have had to buy top of the line ford needs to be more flexible on their option packages as they usually are tow vehicles of choice. So I had to go with a Z71 4x4 Silverado 5.3

Wish I could my friend. New job since January has me occupied. Got a fancy title along with a substantial raise, but like all jobs there's a catch - you have to work.

Well then, make lots of money fast so you can retire.

You may be knocking some pedestrians down with those mirrors extended, can they be retracted when not towing?

Yes. They have power telescoping and folding.

That is one gorgeous truck, almost pretty enough to turn a Dodge girl's head. Congratulations!

I had the 18" wheels on my 2015. They were fine, but the resulting ride was a little bit squishy. The 20's seem to provide better handling, particularly cornering. I also think with a full sized truck, 20" wheels just look more proportionate. Yes, spares would be more expensive in a 20", and there's a slight increase in unsprung weight, but my impression so far is that I much prefer the larger wheels.
On another note, the 10 speed transmission and the dual injected/redesigned 2.7L EcoBoost are just great. Smooth power, better acceleration than the 2015, not as "lunky", and it's very hard to tell the shift points.
I'm loving this truck.
