I posted earlier today on another thread about this--still having trouble navigating and manipulating this computer stuff. Precocious senility, I suppose.
Anyway, the simplest way I have found to deal with the safety chains is to purchase two 5/8" double clevis hooks and insert one into the each of safety chains, then you can simply remove the chains when you park the trailer. The 5/8" clevis hooks have a working load limit of 5400 pounds, so they are actually stronger than my chains. They cost me $7.99 each at Ace Hardware.
I also took delivery today of an AMPLock U-TLS2 hitch lock. It is not as expensive as the Proven Lock, but it much better than the usual items you can find at Wally World or Camping World. Made of ductile steel with a good lock and powder coated finish. Very heavy duty.
Still having trouble posting links, but just google AMPLock U-TLS2 and you'll find the lock.
