Craig and I will have to agree with any and / or all of the coastal Oregon State Parks...just be aware they are near impossible to get into on a weekend. And, don't forget the lighthouses while you are on that trek. We spent almost 6 weeks on the coast 2 years ago and are looking forward to doing it again possibly in the next few weeks. The Oregon coastline is SPECTACULAR.
Rogue Valley State park in Oregon is nice if you are going through there and there's a yummy tiny pizza / Italian restaurant in one of the strip malls in town....really good. Paisano's Kitchen - 510 E Main St, Rogue River, OR...you will be pleasantly surprised how good it is...locally owned.
Washington State Parks are nice but more rustic AND PAY showers. They sell the coins at the ranger station....3 minutes per coin.

Thanks again for all the leads folks. This forum is quite the planning aid. It looks like we will stay somewhere in the area of Chilliwack for 3-4 nights to see if there are any warranty issues to address, then head south.

Depending on the time of year, section "H" of Honeyman can be noisy. I was there in mid April, 2014 and the ATVs & the dirt they left behind made it a less than pleasant experience. Then again, my visit in July, 2012 was enjoyable...

Champoeg State Park, a little south of Portland, Ore., one is one of our most favorite Oregon camping areas, along with Silver Falls State Park where one can walk under the beautiful water falls. In the summer months, at Cape Disappointment, there is a little private store/restaurant right before you come into the park. They will deliver wonderful pizzas, etc. right to your campsite!!! Having said that, Oregon has, IMHO, the best campsites in the West. FYI, here is my last information email from Oregon State Parks:
"Are you a night owl? Like to plan your camping trip online? If so, we have some great news. You will be able to reserve an Oregon State Park campsite online every day at midnight, beginning January 2, 2016. (Our previous online hours matched regular Monday-Friday business.) This means you can reserve online—nine months in advance, 24/7."
Also FYI, when we want to spend time in downtown Portland, we stay at Jantzen Beach RV Park, unhook, and take a short drive into town. It's a private RV park, but clean, pool, grassy sites, and Starbucks across the street.

We love the drive along the coastal highway in Oregon, but don't plan to cover too many miles, as it is slow going. Every small town has a reduced speed, with no bypass around the town. We have found many dog friendly beaches and parks along the way. State park campgrounds in WA & OR are much better buys than in California, where you might find private campgrounds with hookups a better way to go. There is an app called "We Camp Here" which has helped us a lot. Good luck!

When we picked up our trailer, in 2012, that was our plan too, but then we learned that Canada wanted us to buy insurance from them because the trailer was not yet licensed in the states, even though we had insured it ahead of time, and had the documentation to prove it. We tried to get the plate from Montana in advance, but they required something that could not be obtained in advance. Bottom line, we headed back across the border the day after we picked it up. Perhaps this policy has changed now. Fortunately, our Escape worked perfectly.
I also recall some kind of a temporary license, perhaps from Tammy, that was good for 30 days. If you are planning to spend more time than that heading home, you might want to inquire about it.

I believe that Montana now has a 30 day temporary registration.

As far as registration, we registered ours and have the Texas plates with us along with proof of insurance. So far we have not been able to get the above mentioned "We Camp Here" app to download.

Another FYI...Allstays is a great app for finding campsites. Also campsitephotos.com for a photo of most campsites so you can see the dumpster next to the site, or the steep incline, etc.!

If you like non commercial campgrounds, the Ultimate Campground Project has apps for iPhones & Androids, as well as a POI collection that can be added to your GPS.
While Allstays does have a filter that lets you search for non commercial campgrounds, the Ultimate Campground Project seems to include many that Allstays doesn't. I use both...

I use The Ultimate Campground project, they also have a Canadian version. It's brilliant for the price.

Do you folks use the app or POI's. I had the app but the subscription ran out, then the phone crapped out.

We bought the Allstays app for $10, good for 1 year. It went to our cloud and is available to all our devices.

I was lucky - there was no host, so I got the full hookup host site. Some photos start here.
Probably not worth going to the other end of the state just for the falls, but if you are in the Walla Walla area it is worth a stop.

The website shows this as tent-only. I take it that if you fit, you can stay?
