Yes, it is correctly known as Huntington Beach SP, just south of Myrtle Beach.

Nope Hunting Island is a different park in the south part of the state just north of Savannah and Hilton Head. Got the T-shirt and bug bites to prove it.

We stayed at Hunting Is. S.P., NC a few years ago on way to FL in March.
Loved it and someday want to go back. Palm trees & tall, tall pines dwarfing camper.
Spent a morning after a storm tossing sand dollars (live, brown with fuzzy "feet") back into the ocean after being left high & dry. Am sure they thanked my aching back. There were couple hundred. Really!

We stayed @ Huntington Beach SC SP last year. The neighbor said they saw a nice size alligator in our campsite while we were in the camper. Camped next to a swampy area.

We stayed there back in 2010. It is a great campground with lots of wildlife. Just across the highway is Brookgreen gardens, a wonderful sculptural garden featuring works from U.S. artists. It was one of our more memorable stays in our 14,000 trip around the US.

Did not visit Brookgreen gardens during our last trip, but will visit next time.

Huntington Beach is over 150 miles from Hunting Island State Park. Brookgreen Gardens is near Huntington Beach, not Hunting Island. Until he moved to Portland, Oregon about a year ago, my middle son lived eight miles from Hunting Island State Park - a charming place, quite near the also charming town of Beaufort, SC. We visited the area several times and always enjoyed it.
