Lake Superior, Madeline Island

We left Red Cliff (not Red Wing, my mistake on a photo) and the beautiful town of Bayfield, Wisconsin and went to Madeline Island. Every time out with the Escape is a first on something. First time on a ferry!

No water views at Big Bay State Park but the campground is very nice. We were right near the bathrooms and showers so that was convenient. (Have to dump tanks at the airport though!) Previous occupants left us some wood, a clothesline and a penny taped to the table so we liked the place right away.

I loved Madeline Island. There is a fantastic beach. We took our inflatable kayak out in the water after trying numerous times unsuccessfully last year to use it. The water was crystal clear. There also is a very long boardwalk through the woods adjoining the beach. What a place.
