Does anyone object if I take pictures?
I am noticing several pictures posted on here that have not been sent to me. Does anyone mind if I 'take' a picture that is posted here and use in the calendar? Otherwise I will contact and ask for a hard copy. I almost have enough pictures at this time but it seems there is always another great picture being posted.

Re: Does anyone object if I take pictures?
Hi: Tammy... I hope one of them was mine and I for one certainly don't mind if one is used. Looking forward to seeing the results. Alf

Tammy,
I think you need to ask the individuals who posted them, personally. For one they'll be flattered and for another you would be in a better legal position than by asking the forum for blanket permission.

Also, for a printed calendar, you will want much higher resolution image files than those here.

I don't mind at all. For myself, I have lots of other photos (assuming you are interested), all at a higher resolution than what can be displayed here. Just let me know

I also think that before we take any pictures, we should ask the owner. Otherwise, the pictures seem to be stolen! Also, to give compliment on great pics!

Re: Does anyone object if I take pictures?
It isn't necessary to ask permission unless the pictures are used for advertising purposes. You can take pictures of anything, in a public place. What matters is how the pictures are used. If you use them to ridicule somebody, you could find yourself in trouble in some jurisdictions. IE. you can't take a picture of Oprah and then run an ad, using the picture to promote your business, but you can shoot a picture of Oprah tripping on a curb and the Enquirer can run it in their editorial pages.
Of course, the nice thing to do is ask. As a news photog, I'm not going to ask the accused if I can take his picture, and I wouldn't ask Oprah either. I did approach a couple caressing under a tree and ask for their names. After recovering from shock, they asked me not to publish the picture. They were married, but not to each other.

Re: Does anyone object if I take pictures?
As for acquiring other peoples pictures from the forum and then using them for your own purpose ( ie. publishing them ) I think you'd be in trouble, but, that said, the media do it all the time. If a cheerleader is murdered, first place they go is FaceBook looking for a picture. It may be that once placed on a forum like that, it enters the public domain. I'm not a lawyer....
I'd stay away from using it to promote a business.

You can use anything I've got if it means I can get a calendar : - ) How's it going?
