Yep, Escape Sales just confirmed the 17B's back receiver is a 2". 1UP it is.

The 17 has a 2" receiver. It is listed under Features, then Chassis on the ETI website.

When my wife brings her bicycle I suppose I will have to remove the spare and carry it in my tow vehicle. I don't envision any problem with this carrier holding 2 bikes.

How about a short extension?

If he uses an extension the bike rack will have lots of movement and I'm not sure by how much but it will lower the weight capacity.

I've got one of those 1 1/4" to 2" adapters for the Toyota. Very loose fit, don't like it on the car, I'd not use it on a trailer.

How about with a hitch tightener? Not saying this is perfect, but sure beats taking the spare off to carry two bikes.

But it's not and wishing won't make any difference.
