An alternative to boondocking
A friend of mine sent this link to me. I found the term amusing. Even though I love my grandchildren, I sometime need my personal space, so I am guilty, as I'm sure many here are, of employing this alternative.

I'm happy to do that. In fact, that's what I prefer. Even if relatives in other cities have monster homes and more than enough space in the house for us we'd rather visit and then retire to our own space. We love to socialize but it's nice to have your own space also rather than be a 24/7 visitor.

Carl, is it really moochdocking if the owner has a numbered campsite?
We do this short term all the time. When visiting friends and they invite us to stay in the house, we still often bring the trailer to have a space of our own. I can get up early and make coffee without disturbing them.

No, absolutely not! I welcome people in my numbered campsite. To date, it has been used 5 times. Your reservation is always open, even in the summer if you are brave (or crazy) enough to weather the heat and more oppressive, the humidity.
I found it interesting that the author would write an article on driveway camping, and bastardized the term boondocking to describe it.

Some people love to make up new words to describe something that already has a common name. Kinda like a ballmount, which already has an alternate name, draw bar, getting referred to as a stinger because it can hurt your shin.

So is hurting your sin good for you?

Me, too, best way to visit the grandkids, since they have five kids and a tiny house. I've done it at my sister's mountain cabin (summer only) also, and since she is a late sleeper it is great way for me to get up, make coffee, enjoy the morning, let the dogs out, etc.
The Boondockers organization sounds interesting- has anyone here used it?
