Hmmmm.
Often moderators post moderate contributions to a thread to set the tone, rather than to encourage the current direction, so the intention was not clear. It is now.

Rant on...

I agree with Brian in that this is a pointless discussion more suited to political meetings. Right Glen?

I've found, having been a moderator since inception, that there are almost zero examples of inappropriate posts. And, that when there is one, if it is ignored, it quickly dies.
The members of this forum aren't looking for a fight, unlike some other forums.

Fuel costs? No matter where you travel.. IT IS WHAT IT IS. If you don't budget, don't know your tug/tow limits... SLOW DOWN. Expect to pay premium prices.

I don't mind rants... I just decide not to read... YMMV

In case anyone isn't already aware of it, there are mobile apps which provide fuel price information. This can be handy to pick a refuelling point which might be a few dollars a tank cheaper, and in advance planning it can help with setting budget. I use GasBuddy, but did not do a comparative search (just followed a suggestion and found it useful). They are available for all platforms... for instance, I have used GasBuddy on Android, iOS, and BlackBerry.

I found a great map system, Good Sam and I can download the map to my GPS. They also list Flying J locales and with distances listed I can guesstimate my next fuel stop. Nice set up they have. They can also list cg et al, but the gps also does that.

We are in Santa Fe, NM tonight heading toward CO. High gas price (we paid) was $3.59/gal. Of course they raised the price just as we started. Like Donna said, "it is what it is" and we will deal with it as we go along. New blog post coming soon.

Robbie, thanks for the book but as you already know we won't be in Kerrville this weekend. See y'all at Matagorda in the fall.

B.C. gouges in gas taxes, while Alberta doesn't IMHO.

Nothing is simple. Alberta has no sales tax, but has higher income tax for middle and low income citizens. Heard a discussion on CBC about fair application of taxation, where this came up.
