To me, it's certainly interesting and only the mountains look scary. I think the juxtaposition of a modern electronic variometer with the good old piece of yarn as yaw string is priceless - I suppose that's normal now.

When I was a soaring club member (here, not in Hope!) I recall that some members camped out at the airfield to save travel time between the airfield and their homes, but nobody had anything as nice as an Escape out there.

I never qualified to fly power (only glider) so I have not had the towing experience (only being towed), but I did appreciate all those tow pilots like Ron (the speck on the right is the towplane, the speck on the left is the glider being towed).

Air Cadets, by chance? I got my glider pilot license as a teen with Air Cadets (summer of '74, I believe). One of my younger brothers got that, plus his Power License. He also went on to instruction gliding, which is where he met his wife.

Bingo! I'm a couple of years behind you, Jim.
Air Cadets is responsible for a substantial fraction of licensed glider pilots in Canada. It's a great program.

Anyone else combine recreational pursuits and use their Escape at flying destinations? How about a view out an Escape window at Oshkosh (although the ultimate Oshkosh camper is your own homebuilt aircraft that you fly in, using the wings as canopies to camp).

Well holy cow, I was flying right over you on Sat. and Sunday. You must be just off to the left side of the photo. Our Escape is just a little dot.

Yes, Brian the vario and the yaw string are quite a contrast between new and old. Most gliders, except for older ones that haven't been updated have them. I'm not in the tow plane in the photo, I'm the one getting dropped off in the bowl. Looked good, an eagle was soaring and they know a thing or two about soaring, then the rain squall moved in.

Another air cadet here also got an early start flying.

Ron

See this version of Ron's photo for a pointer to the little white dot (if I have it right).
Aerial photography is cool

Is the view out the window of the aircraft at the airfield reached with the Escape still on-topic?

Any photo that has an Escape in it has to be on topic. Heck, the post doesn't even mention poutine Good spotting, yes, that's our little home away from home.

View out our window last week; our maiden voyage at Kalaloch NP on the Washington Coast.

The second photo is looking out from our door. Incredible place and amazing (unusual) sunny weather! Love our 5.0TA and the solar panel!

Well, it is "out my back window", but at home, not the trailer. Technically, if I was in the trailer it would be the same view, so...

It wouldn't fit in the bird feeder, so had to do with the spillage on the ground. Would make a great dinner!
