My father-in-law Always chose to come visit us in St Paul in July-August. Like Mark Twain's father, it is amazing how much the old man learned as I became older.

Love Gilbert Rey campground and their policy of no reservations 7 day max then get out for 7 days before wanting to come back.
Lately we've realized that a lot of the parks we like are county campgrounds yet they are many times unlisted on maps or camping guides. We now search by county name to bring up their campgrounds.

Yes, I have the impression that there are many county and town campgrounds that are not on the usual lists from the big organizations and are not state or federal. We come across them frequently.

View from outside our trailer where we were sitting, glass of wine in hand, watching the hawks dart across the sky. We were in site C11 at El Chorro Regional Park in SLO (CA) which was recommended by some of our fellow "Escapees". Very nice campground with a fantastic dog park within walking distance (it's the photo with the tan bark).

We travel with 2 dogs so we love those cg's with "Dog Parks", too bad they are so hard to find.
Maybe a dog lover will create an "app" for other owners.

I agree Jim. We also have two dogs and really appreciate those dog parks. It would be nice to have a thread dedicated to this topic along with ratings as some parks are definitely better than others. I would give these parks (there are actually two, a "big dog" and a "small dog" park) five stars.

When using campgounds, with most we visit being in a National'/Provincial/State setting, one can usually hike to just outside the campground, and find lots of space for the dogs to run. If not, as a last course of action, we will load up and find a place. With Jasper, there is no getting away without at least an hour a day run. Most days it is just fine though, as we are often out hiking for a few hours anyway.
But, it certainly would be nice to see more areas in campground designated for dog use. I would think a developer of an existing app could easily add a parameter to the search for dog friendly campgrounds, a good idea.

There are some KOA that have "canine parks" where there is a large fenced in area to let them loose as well as some obstacles to play with. When we travel to Osoyoos the dogs are confined either to the truck or the trailer or on leash for days, so if there is a chance to let them go we take it.

Nk'mip has an off leash area on the beach, and lots of room around for walking, which is nice. They are quite pet friendly there. When there, or any other campground, I usually go for a bit walk with Jasper before most folks are up.
When doing the distance travel, we always stop a couple times a day somewhere he can go for a run, for at least a short while.

You're making me homesick. Lived in Central Cal for many years the Central Coast IMHO is the most beautiful part of Calif. Love it.
Thank you for sharing

We just returned from three nights of camping at St. Andrew State Park, (near Panama City Beach), with Alf & Mary Ann and my friend Joe, who has a Camplite. We were surprised that there was a third Escape there, a 5.0 single axle. After the second day, Joe said he would sell his Camplite and buy my Escape if I was willing, but I'm not.

Sitting now at Starbucks after three days deprived of internet traveling from
San Antonio to Leavenworth KS. First pic you might pick out whitecaps on Granger Lake near Austin on Thursday PM. It was very cold that night but yesterday was great as I traveled to Twin Bridges State Park in NE OK. Had a spot right on the lake and this morning this heron was on the boat dock beside my site. Sorry for the poor quality of the one shot from iPhone.
OK don't know where the first pic is I shall try a second time.

Jim I did see snow on the ground in the northeast part of Texas just before arriving in OK. That fuzz, it's called leaves, guess you can't remember after the winter you had. Beth spent Thursday night in your area, not intentionally, she was flying from San Antonio to Toronto and was stuck at Dulles.
Glad you're going to Alf's rally, I can finally meet Blackjack, and you too of course! We won't be attending the 2nd eastern rally, after Niagara will be heading home via the new Mississippi rally last weekend of Sept.

Currently in Sequoia National Park, in the Azalea area. Here's the view from my back window.
