That old pump jack is definitely in Texas. Too much scrub and Mesquite for West Texas, so I'm guessing north of that. Lake Arrowhead SP, near Wichita Falls?

Looks like you are right. It's a Walsh and Watts derrick, they're in Wichita Falls and think I found that derrick in the park right in the campground.

Ha! Never been there, but then again, that part of Texas never appealed to me for camping.

I think Jon's been EVERYWHERE.

Here's a toughy. Hint: it's in the Intermountain west, near where I grew up.

#302 is Gila Cliff Dwellers & #303 is Lake Arrowhead State Park in Texas. I was camped 2 loops away & could hear the well; I'd hate to be in the same loop. ...

On #311 - I haven't been there & it does look like a tough one!

Ok, here's a wider shot of the same place. Not my photo.

#311 Any possibility it is the Timpanogos Cave National Monument?

Bingo! The tunnel on the trail up there. Nice work.

I guessed somewhere in the southern states, but had to look up Walsh and Watts to see that you're right: their wells are generally south of Wichita Falls, TX.

Good spotting... but it's a production pumpjack, not a drilling rig derrick. And it looks like it's out of production... possibly fortunate, for the campground.

I have no idea where it is, but it is presumably a WWII diesel submarine's upper superstructure (only), with the ground level as water level when running mostly submerged... clever.
Presumably a military base, somewhere.

Getting close. It's the fairwater of a Balao class Diesel Electric sub. But, it's nowhere near a military base. In fact, it's in a town, just off the main street area.

EDIT: another hint. The town is not near the ocean, and has no association with the US Navy. But, it's most famous resident did.
