Escape 19 larger refrigerator?
Working on our build sheet and would like to know. If you have the 19 and the larger refrigerator, what (if anything) is above it?
We are not getting a built in microwave and I am pondering upgrading to the larger refrigerator, but wonder about giving up that space for storage.
I'd love to see a photo if possible.
Thanks in advance

I believe the upgraded fridge for the 19 takes up the same footprint as the fridge on the 21 .. so you end up with no space above. I can't recall if the model number is the same as the 21 fridge.
When we were at the factory last month, we were looking at the fridge placement on the 21 and went back to stare at the space on the 19, we decided we want the upgraded fridge on the 19..

For what it's worth, I'd go with the larger fridge. There's still plenty of storage in the 19.

The fridge goes almost to the top of the cabinets, We had room above the fridge to mount a spice rack, here are pictures in our thread on our 19' http://www.escapeforum.org/forums/f8...apen-5775.html
Joan and I both agree the larger fridge is well worth it.

It's been almost three years and I keep second guessing our decision to get the larger frig in the 19 -- I moan about losing those convenient shelves. However, every time we set out on a trip I realize that we really needed the larger frig. I can pack a LOT of frozen meat and fish in that freezer and the frig itself fills up in no time. i like being able to stay in a place for up to a week or even more without running out of fresh food. Glacier, for example, the campground was 12 miles on a washboard road from the main road and we had no desire to leave on that rutty road once we got to our campsite -- until it was time to go. With the smaller frig we would not have eaten so well, or would have had to leave earlier.

The microwave goes above the fridge in the 19' if you have the standard refrigerator. If you go with the larger refrigerator in goes in the kitchen cabinet and you loose some space there and have no space above the fridge. The fridge section in the new 5 CF appears to be almost as large as the 6 CF. It looks like want you gain is a much larger freezer area.

Sooner or later one will run out of storage space with these added options. I'm using the space over the refer as a pantry, dry goods which I used to put inside my larger refer in my 21' but now chose otherwise.

We found this issue with our Casita, it had the microwave and it was used a bread storage, we never used it for heating yet the smaller fridge in the Casita was always packed tight. Needless to say we didn't have a micro installed in the Escape but opted for the larger fridge. This combination works great for the way we travel

We opted for the larger refrigerator as well. It was the first thing I noticed when we entered the trailer prior to our orientation and I thought "Oh man, I made a mistake with this." However, after nearly three years and many trips, I'm SO glad we have the larger refrigerator. While it looks 'large', it's really not that deep. And, with proper planning, I can keep three weeks worth of refrigerated (and frozen) food in there. This past summer, I had three weeks worth of food for John, me AND our two grandsons ages 12 and 13. I don't miss a microwave nor an oven but I would miss my larger refrigerator. (Do love my CanCooker though .... )

I know that the 21 has a support post for the upper cabinets at the forward end of the counter. But in the photo it appears that a 19 has a support post. Is that correct. If so, did it come that way or is it a mod?
In light of Gregs stress cracks on the roof in that area I'm considering adding a support post like the 21 has.

I believe that's a shot of the 2d gen 19' which comes with the stripper pole installed.
Here's mine.

I wonder if this was added to stiffen for the new style awning.

The new 2nd gen 19's have the support post.
I would think it has something to do with the awning or new style door.
