We have a fresh veggie drawer in the bottom that catches the water. Otherwise, it would probably be a good idea to put the ice in a tray of some sort. Wouldn't want to see a waterfall when opening the door!

We find keeping the freezer full with "blue ice" or other frozen stuff, really helps mitigate the temperature swings on hot days.

That reminds me. We want to try removing the freezer sometime in really hot weather to see how much the freezer fins help cool the rest of the fridge. My wife likes making ice for her iced tea, but compromises may have to be made!

The small battery powered fan we put in seems to help too. Moves the air around just enough in there to make at least a little difference it seems.
