Full time bed

I'm looking for a mattress for the rear bed in my 17b. the Foam Shop in North Vancouver quoted $440 - $600 !
What have others done and where in the Vancouver area did you go and what was the cost?
Does Escape still sell them?

we still use the cushions but have a nice egg crate topper from the foam shop--middle quality stuff--I am a real "princess and the pea" but I don't feel the under cushions cracks at all...Cost us a couple hundred anyway--and that was 4 years ago

I have wondered about a "proper" mattress with a proper cover etc.... But for now this has to do--heck it was just over a hundred for the "extension" cushion and cover we had made--foam and egg crate to match our regular bed part...Think it is a total of 8"

And there is no comparison to college foam and the really good quality stuff used now a days (sounding like the old one I am!!! LOL)

Might want to check with Escape. Before I decided on the 19 I was considering having them build a permenent bed in a 17. Can't remember the up charge but they could get either a foam or real mattress made.

My husband uses the small dinette/bed for sleeping on his trips. After I tried it and had a very uncomfortable night's sleep on it, I purchased a 3" memory foam mattress at Costco and simply cut it down to fit. I also modified an inexpensive twin duvet cover to use as a cover for it. It is a tremendous improvement in comfort over the standard cushions.

Foam is expensive and it's dependent on the type ( firmness and thickness) that you want! The 3" foam at Costco was regular $99.00 but on sale for $79.00. I look at several other places offering similar memory foam mattresses and found the average price for such a product was $250.00. The one at Costco was better quality and a much better price than other places I looked.

Going back to my "crafting days", I told my husband the best way to cut foam is with an electric carving knife - he thought I was nuts but couldn't believe how well it worked, like slicing through butter.

The cost for a spring coil mattress for the rear dinette bed is $399 at Escape. For the front dinette $325. Both come with radius corners on one side.

Foam matress!

Hello J Mac.
We got an Futon foldable foam matress at Ikeas "As Is" corner for $79.00.
It has a thin white cover with a zipper so the cover can be washed.
Works for us on two month trips to the desert but we end up sleeping almost in the window.Check their catalogue.
But comfortable, yes.
