Microwave

Anyone get a combo microwave/convection oven? I have one at home wondering if they make one for a trailer?

I would worry about the heat from the convention oven where the microwave is currently located, but if you used it on the countertop, or better yet outside, there would be no issues at all with using one, other than where to stow it.

For those that don't have an oven, but wish to bake, the BBQ with a baking stone works great. Just buy a 1/2" travertine marble tile, and cut to size.

Yep, we use a Dometic one in our Casita. Generating heat is a concern and we do not use it at temps above 320 degrees (arbitrarily chosen) and we rigged up,a way to vent heat out of the cabinet. We've been using it for 3 years with no problems. One thing about the convection microwave is that it has convinced us we would never buy a new microwave that was NOT convection. They are awesome and make the best brownies and cookies - baked evenly and perfect! There are some other brands made for RVs to include Contour and Franklin Chef as well as some others that all appear to be the same just branded differently.

Microwave - built in

Building my build list.... microwave is described as built in - I haven't decided if I want one or not. I have basically dry camped up to now but the idea of adding a few comforts is starting to appeal to me. Two questions: - if not ordered at time of production, is it easy to just add one into the space or are dimensions a concern?? Secondly, if I order it and later decide I want to remove it, is it difficult since it is listed as "built in"? I know, I know.... why would you order it if you think you might remove it.... just asking...

We didn't order the microwave with our trailer - you still get the microwave size cabinet with an electrical outlet in it.
We just purchased a small microwave oven and put it in that cabinet.
For travel we push it back and put a throw pillow in front of it. When we get to camp take the pillow out and pull the oven forward.
When I go boondocking on my own, I take it out and use that (BIG) space for something else.

If you get it, and want to remove it, you're left with a cabinet with no door. You can order just a door though.

I didn't order the microwave with my build since we hardly used it in our last trailer. It is a very big storage area though that comes with a door if you don't order it. If you change your mind and want one, a small microwave will fit in there very easily, and as posted above, the electrical outlet is already in there. Lots of options

We got the microwave. I thought it was too expensive. Can use it only with shore power. I have never used ours--does nothing I can't do on the stovetop. However, first thing SWMBO says when stocking up for a trip is "we can microwave it !!" --and that's that.

And you can do this:
I carry our little micro in the bottom of the closet and put it on the counter when we have hookups.

Jerry,

Is that slider from shelvesthatslide.com? If so, would you mind sharing the size needed for that space in a 21? Thanks.
