Confusion of Seasons
We got our little Escape trailer in February 2010, which is Winter, and we had sunshine and blossoms.
Today it is Autumn and we have snow. Are the seasons confused?

Re: Confusion of Seasons
I can't wait until next spring to see how well I did at "winterizing" Toad.
Amphibians are cold blooded aren't they?

Re: Confusion of Seasons
I drained everything and pumped in anti-freeze this time. Last time I blew lines out with compressed air and just used anti-freeze in the p-traps.

Re: Confusion of Seasons
Do you leave a vent open a little so it breaths,
what about a light bulb for moisture or airdry stuff

Re: Confusion of Seasons
I've got a couple Dry-Z-Air containers going and I'll open a vent and run the heater, or turn my oil-filled heater to low, from time to time. In the lower mainland of BC I don't think leaving a vent open is going to help dry the air.
I've also got all the cupboards and fridge ajar so air can circulate.
If you search "winterize" on this site and on FGRV you'll find all the info you need.

Re: Confusion of Seasons
I drained, tried blowing and got not enough to bother, added some antifreeze to the traps, and parked it. I imagine the -35ºC temps last week put it to the test. I am not worried at all though.

I wonder if results would vary depending on the individual trailer. If you have a water line with a good sag in it along the way, just draining wouldn't get that water out.
I lost a couple Y valves at the garden tap one winter, even though they were drained. Lee Valley said that the ball bearing inside was a different metal and it froze at at different rate than the rest, causing a split in the case. They replaced it free, so I don't think it was just an excuse.

Re: Confusion of Seasons
Hi: gbaglo... I have one of those Y valves and even tho they are drained there is still a small amt. of water trapped behind the ball which can freeze there!!! I always take mine off and shake it out then leave it off for the winter. Alf
