I like how little space they take up and we could carry them inside the TV - so convenient! From my brother:
For your bicycle question, I recommend Dahon. I think it is the largest maker of folding bicycles. I had one before but now I have a Tern bike, and the model name is Verge:

It's the best bike I've ever had! I love it!
When I was shopping for a bicycle, I also considered a Montague bike:

These are supposed to be really good bikes, too. They are not that compact, though.
The thing about buying a folding bike is this: There is always a tradeoff between portability and performance. If you want a lot of portability (compact size), you suffer in terms of performance (in other words, speed). Bicycles with small wheels just can't go as fast as bicycles with big wheels. On the other hand, if you want performance (speed) there is no way a bike with big wheels can have great portability (compact size). So, you have to compromise. Try to find the right size so that it is portable, yet somewhat fast. After much research, I chose the Tern (Verge) model. Actually the best combination of portability and performance bike is the Brompton bike, but it is quite expensive.

Good luck on your hunt for a folding bike! If you end up with that Montague bike, let us know how you like it! Thanks, Bea
