Gap in Production Schedule
Hi guys. Just curious as to why Escape is showing a 4 month gap in their production schedule? Dates available in January and then again in June. Are their not producing trailers and undertaking plant maintenance? What am I missing here?

My guess - and it's only a guess - is that they booked well into the year (the June dates) based on their established production rate, then added slots to the production schedule when they confirmed that they could produce at the higher rate enabled by their recent substantial expansion (the extra ones being filled now are in January).

In the past, I think early dates that occasionally showed up represented cancellations - completion dates that were previously reserved but then released. But as long as we're guessing, perhaps they post a few "floating" openings, approximately 3 months out and 6 months out, to help match their capabilities with common customer requests (soon and not so soon). Or not. It will be interesting to see if in November they post openings in both February and July, then in December, they post openings in both March and August. Or - someone could just ask Tammy what's up with that....

I believe there is a simpler answer. We visited ETI last week and when picking a production date it appeared to me that all the available dates from Feb to May were taken with buyer commitments. They had some open slots in June and as soon as we locked in June 26 it disappeared from the web site. They also told me the dates for July were not yet released to Sales and that’s why no July dates appear yet.

We snagged April 26th completion since we want to pick up and attend the Rally in Osoyoos in May, 2019. We also scheduled our pick up and orientation for Tuesday, May 21 so that we can continue on toward Osoyoos from Chilliwack. Now, if the dates for the rally change, we are SOL!!

A simple answer for the June bookings, yes. That's standard production schedule for ETI. I think the perceived oddity noted by the OP was why there are 6 openings in January.

Exactly. There was already a 40 degree swing in temperature last week from Houston to Chilliwack!

I did. No problem. It would even be better if headed south instead of east.

Call us crazy, but we drove from San Antonio, TX to Chilliwack in January, 2017 to pick up our new Escape.

ETI will store the trailer until the owner is ready to pick it up. It would make more sense for many buyers to grab a winter completion date and pick it up at the beginning of the camping season than to wait for mid-summer to get their trailer, so it seems hard to believe that those January dates were sitting there all along and no one wanted them... but maybe.

All I know is that ETI has a standing "help wanted" ad in the local paper. They also offered an incentive recently for trailers built in the winter months. They need to build year-round to keep experienced employees, so I doubt they take any production breaks.

What route did you take, Fred - did you go south and then up I-15, or did you go the more direct route across ID/OR/WA? We will be needing to head up from Austin and the mountains in OR and WA sure looked like they would be dicey in the winter.

We did the ID/OR/WA route the first week of Sept. with the snow and ice that time of yr, no way would I go that route. I’d take the way thru New Mexico ,Utah,Idaho,Washington. That’s the way we came back with our 21. Beautiful scenery most of the way.

That's why we had our 2017 21' delivered. It left Chilliwack during their blizzard of 2017 and arrived in Alabama, complete with winter road grime from the ride down, in time to clean it up and make the 2017 Green Eggs & Ham Rally its maiden trip. Glad we got it before the price for delivery went up substantially.

We picked up our first trailer in January and, what’s more, will be picking up our new 21 in December! Just in time to do a few mods and then head south in January

Thanks for the info all. I see they have just opened up dates in February. There is clearly a science involved here. Lol

Sold our Casita on Tuesday, just signed up for the February 13th date for our new 21. Gonna let it sit until warmer weather pickup.

Looks like they have a ruff fill of dates, then a final fill as they check on the variables such as supplies and holiday time employees may or may not be taking.
They have been known to change your date to one earlier if you request it. If you live far a way it is nice to get a date before the end of May, then pick it up just before the Escape Camp out. It is great to camp with 140 other Escape trailers!
