Knocking other trailers

We showed the Escape to some people and while they were looking at it, they said they had been looking at another trailer. I acted as if I had never heard of it. The trailer in question has the worst reviews I have ever seen. It seemed bad form to knock another trailer especially while showing the Escape. Should I have told them about it?

That's something you just have to play by ear. Are they likely to hear you?
Maybe you gently refer them to Google.

Of course, that didn't prevent my sister-in-law from buying a trailer that was falling apart when she took delivery.

You could suggest to the purchaser that there are reviews available online for both trailers and even give them the web address of this and the other site. Then let them read the reviews themselves to find out what is what.

Or you could tell the truth, as I do every time we pass the major rv retailer in our area and I remind my Wife and Daughter"just look at all those stick trailers , they are all junk and they are all leaking somewhere ". Just kidding I would take the high road as well.

Since I have probably owned one of those "SOB" trailers or aware of them on rv.Net I would ask them specifically why and then perhaps highlite Escape's positives. Depends if this is their first or 7th camper, experienced or inexperienced.

Thanks all for so many thoughtful comments. Guess I would have to carefully steer them in the right direction. Are they going to hear what they want is a good question.

It occurred to me that it's not "knocking" if you are simply stating observable truths in differences between between brands. It's simply sharing provable facts. That's the approach I take if necessary when asked "Why Escape, instead of X?".
