I have an exterior hatch at front passenger side to access under bench.

Oh, great option! I'll remember that.

Lucky you. ETI won't install one for me at that location when I asked. After I received the trailer I can see that the awning installation is blocking the spot.

Mine is on the front, not the side. If I got the box, I wouldn't be able to open it. Have to admit, I don't use it much. You are limited by the size of the opening. Bulky items are easier to get at by lifting the seat.
Another issue for ETI may be that you can get water in the compartment ( driving rain ). I've had a wee bit when I didn't put the rock guards on.

Interesting! Now come to think of it, I did remember seeing your pictures of that before.
Another option is to make the single dinette a permanent bed. The entire bottom of the bed can then be made into a single, bigger storage compartment and have access doors in the front. I was tempted by this idea but decided against it just to leave the options open.

Here's a pic that shows the hatch with vinyl rock guard hanging.

I got one front hatch on each side. If I had the front box (which was not being made at the time), I would get doors on the bench "fronts" for easier access.

My hubby likes to use the single bed on his hunting/fishing trips so he can keep the large dinette set up for fly-tying etc. However he has found that in the colder months, when he needs the furnace on, he prefers to sleep on the larger bed and leave the small dinette for sitting at. He says the larger bed area stays warmer as it's more open to the furnace. Those closet and bathroom walls that enclose the single bed seem to reduce the amount of heat that can reach there, leaving it much cooler . At least that has been his experience.

For those leaving your "options open," smart choice! I originally had a ten-year plan and had the front made into a permanent bed by Escape. My rescue dog changed all that (long story) and when I tried to sell it after a year, the permanent bed was a deal breaker for several people. Wish I had just set it up as a bed and left it set up instead of making it permanent. It did sell, but I had to reduce the price.
