Excited for you Vicki! One thing positive, since you'll be replacing the vent hood you can paint it with Fusion and protect it from the Texas UVs.

I can't wait to see more pictures.

We very often travel with the Maxx Fan open. It is a great way to ventilate, ir you need to, without fear of failure due to the surrounding shroud. We have often left the bath vent open a little bit too, without problems.

Yes, I leave the bath vent, MaxxFan open and the bath window cracked. Helps keep the interior cooler and we all know about that and keeping the refer cooler.

Guess I'm just used to the Hybrid where rain would get through the bunk hinges if I left any type of vent open. Be good to leave something open.

If you leave the Maxxfan open, make sure you lock it open ( pull down on the knob ). That prevents the cover from bouncing up and down.

Actually, the manual says to "push" up on the knob to lock. There are a series of little grooves that need to be engaged to lock the vent cover.
