LED interior and tail lighting options
On fiberglassrv.com I saw a link to these new LED dome lights (see the first listing). My 17B delivery date is scheduled to be July 24, so I have time to have them installed. LEDs save energy, you know.
What type of lighting will my trailer have in stock configuration? How many of these lights would I buy?
While I am talking LEDs, what options are there for the taillights?
Ron

One thing to remember Ron, is that those lights that Gina linked to need to have a separate switch, whereas the ones in the Escape have the switch right on them. It would not be a hard thing to so to get a switch and mount it separately though.

Re: LED interior and tail lighting options
Ron--we bought the ones from Tammy.
A few LARGE ones (over the sink and at the end where the small dinette is)and the rest small. We basically changed over all our interior lights for LEDs..(all but above the stove where the fan is) and the outdoor "porch" light..
Quite like them and they save lots of "juice".
You new trailer will have LEDs on the exterior--our "old" trailer doesn't!!

Re: LED interior and tail lighting options
I haven't had a lot of reasons to turn on lights. Mostly we cook and eat outside. Watch the sunset and sit around the fire. So, I only installed one LED, in the area that the Old Bag has chosen to curl up and read. I figure I'll add LEDs as I determine lighting requirements. The bulbs aren't cheap so I'll only replace those that get a lot of use. I got the one I did from Tammy. It's an array of 9 LEDs and I chose it from several that she had. Beats ordering a whole bunch of bulbs and finding that you hate the light they emit.

Re: LED interior and tail lighting options
I just replaced two of my stock lights with Thin-Lite florescent units. Supposd to draw abiut 1/2 the amps as the old units with much brighter and COOLER light. The stock units run really hot and bulbs don't last very long. I had same lights in my sportsmobile and only replaced one bulb in 3 years. They cost about $50 in a local RV shop. Probably several cheaper sources out there.
I will eventually replace all stock units with LED when I find the right ones. Looking for aircraft-type (directional) LED units.

Heh Ron. Think it's been mentioned before, but the extra lights on the back of the trailer (like Sandra's....high) would be VERY good if you plan on hauling anything (like bikes) on the rear of your trailer. Wish I had them.

Re: LED interior and tail lighting options
Thanks for the compliment. However, Jeff, I stole some ideas from you and others as well. One thing, I should have taken Reaces' offer to put a handle on the wardrobe for exiting assistance. I'm thinking of putting a small handle like the door pulls near the top and close to the door. It is hard not to touch the screen frame, and even harder to remember not to hang onto it! The little ones grab onto it naturally, but since they are still light weight, I figure an occasional use for support will not be too deleterious. I wonder if additional L brackets would work. Has anyone asked about that?
