Jim, like you I have the opening cabinet door. Sure is a handy and useful option.

Insulating the door - what an obvious improvement. Looking forward to your project report!

I need to find a spray foam that does not expand, drill some holes on the inside sides and experiment. Anyone have suggestions? The top part and bottom appear to have maybe 1" uninsulated space between the two inner/outer panels. With the window being double paned, the rest of the uninsulated part gets cold.

Follow up report on wall heater. Today the temperature is high 29/low of 11 degrees(F) and tomorrow will be high 14/low of 6 degrees(F) with wind gusts 20-30 mph and snow squalls. Wind chills below -0- . The furnace is on 60 degree setting(digital) and the electric wall heater is on low(500 watts) and the furnace has only been on 4 times in past 24 hours, maybe one hour total run time. Kitchen window cracked and MaxxAir open slightly. With it being so cold, inside of 65 feels really warm. The heater is really quiet and it is safe to leave on all the time. The dogs love it because the floor now is the warmest place.
I installed Reflectix on the front window between the stone cover and the glass, no condensation has appeared. I also cut and installed a piece 16" doubled over into 8" double thickness around the mattress exterior sides against the outside walls. No condensation has shown up yet in that location. Will report again when I return home later this week

Winter Camping

I'm not a hunter or an ice fisher so I'm not exactly sure why anyone would want to go camping in the winter. It seems to me that most of the day and night would be spent trying various ways to keeping warm.
I prefer spring, fall, and mainly summer camping. That's when I can pull out the sun chairs and a good book and relax in the shade with a cold beer and watch the grand kids play. 8)
I dunno, maybe I'm just getting....
