Bob,
Just ordered a 5.0TA with 4 aluminum rims. Spare stays covered anyway. I guess it depends if you want to spend the extra $85.

I bought 5 aluminum wheels with my 19'. Figured that way I could rotate tires if I wanted to, or if I got a flat, I would not have to change the tires a second time after the flat was repaired.

No, just the 4 on the ground. I need to check if the lug bolts are compatible with both wheels.
Did anyone with a 21 get a counter extension, if so are you happy with it?
I added it on since we have non-standard formica & it was our only chance to match it. Norma didn't think she needed it, but its not in the way.
Where'd you get or wish you had gotten extra 12v outlets?
I only added one in the forward overhead where I run my cpap. Probably should have put another in the dinette area.
For the 5.0 owners, hows the default TV location work out for occasional use?

I failed to get all 5 aluminum wheels, just 4 and the covered white one, my mistake. I got 2 counter extensions, both in the "U" dinette section, should bet one more for the night stand next to the bed. I got 2 additional 120v and 4 additional 12v outlets and 4 additional reading lights. Each tv locale gets one, the bed gets one, 2 under dinette and 2 on the o/h dinette.

I can only answer one. We ordered the aluminum wheels but did not do so for the spare. Our thought being the spare is covered when not in use and, if we need it, we'll get the problem tire fixed sooner rather than later.

I understand that logic, but it assumes that you will not rotate the tires between positions. If you accept that tires should not be used to more than a certain age, you will be replacing a completely unused spare tire in a few years, rather than using it to extend the life of the other four.
In the case of a car with a compact or "space saver" spare - and a spare tire well that won't even hold the full-sized tire - this is inevitable. With a trailer or truck having a spare identical to the regular tires, I would rather get my money's worth out of all of them.

If we accept that tires need to be replaced at 5 or 6 years ( I choose 6, since they have a limited warranty for that amount of time ) and if they still have tons of tread left at that time, you wouldn't extend the life of the tires by rotating the spare.
They'd all have tread and they'd all need to be replaced.
Of course, I'd choose not to replace the spare since it's never been flexed and been under cover the whole time.
If I lived in Arizona or south, I might choose otherwise.

Quite true, but if you tow 10,000 km a year, this assumes much more than 60,000 km tread life. Given all the complaints I read about ST tire life (I don't use them), that seems surprising.

Those who say you need to replace after six years also say that this is a shelf life, regardless of use. Again, this doesn't affect me personally as I have found that ordinary tires on cars are fine after decades... this self-destruct feature is either particular to ST tires or recently invented by tire sales people.

I liked Reace's comment when I suggested I should maybe replace my five year old tires. He looked at the tread, and said, "you've got a spare, don't you"?

My tires are 5 years old now, and I will be taking them for another year. Tons of tread left. Don't want to push it too much, but I do have tandem axles, and a spare.

We opted for the counter extension on our 21 Escape. Our 19 has one and we used it a lot. When do you ever have too much counter space?
