I've never seen or heard of an Escape with the axle brackets welded to the frame - there are plates which are welded to the frame rails, and the axle is side-bolted to those plates. The plates are not Dexter's side mounting hangers, but work the same way.
Even the first Escape 17' that I saw - a 2006 model - had these mounting plates and a bolted-on Torflex axle; it would be strange if the 5.0 (which was based on the 17') were done differently.
Escape's previous lift kit, Orbital Machine Works' spacer block kit
, Dexter Axle's Torflex Lift Kit
, or cutom-made spacers or rectangular tubular steel... they should all work on any Torflex-equipped Escape I've seen.
