Furnace Dilemma

I have a 17B with an Atwood hydro flame furnace. After a lightening strike and replacing the Dometic thermostat, I have air conditioning,, but no heat. The furnace makes no noise, the blower motor doesn't turn on, nothing. I've searched some threads here and watched videos on the EI website. I suspect I need to replace the control board/circuit board.
If I pull the furnace out by the front (no exterior access panel) do I have to remove the exhaust first? If I can leave the exhaust in place, is it possible to connect the furnace again without too much trouble ? If possible, I'ld like to avoid cutting open the seal on the exterior of the trailer.
