Jensen Stereo / DVD player problem
Does anyone have a jensen stereo DVD player? I can't get it to play on my tv! Have others had trouble watching DVDs? If not how or what do I do?

I don't have a Jensen but I do have a Pioneer stereo/DVD and an Insignia 12V television. I had trouble at first but I was trying to make it much too complicated by connecting the DVD player directly to the TV. The connection from the DVD was already hard-wired in by ETI to the yellow jack on the receptacle; I just needed to connect the TV to the yellow jack with the appropriate connector. This may not be your problem but it's what I was doing wrong.

Sometimes with dvd/tv combo's there is a right/wrong way to insert the dvd, some with label out and some the opposite.

I had that unit and remember needing to use a video cable.

This unit was factory installed so it should be connected already. Did anyone have factory installed Jensen unit in their trailer. If so, did you have any trouble with DVD?

We have a new Jensen AWM975 in the trailer we just picked up. Unfortunately, the eject button doesn't work, so I have an email into Jensen. Will probably end up returning it for a new unit. But as long as we had the HDMI cable hooked up, we could play DVDs just fine.
by the way, we just purchased a Sony Blue Ray DVD player (model BDPS3200) from Best Buy so that DW can watch movies in the damp foggy evenings on the way home. it comes with a converter that converts 110 to 12volt. So, if I were a daring guy, I could conjure up a cord that would let me use it even when we are boon docking. But the ultimate plan is really to get the Jensen working

In the meantime, a cheap inverter is all you need. Plug the inverter into a 12V outlet, plug 120V DVD cord into it and you should be good to go.
It's not efficient, but it works. It's how I charge my MacBook Air and cell phones.

yup. There was one at Best Buy for $51.00 yesterday. But DW said she would be happy to be reading books when we are not hooked up.
Of course, there is always "Dressed to Kill" with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce stuck in the Jensen. So we could watch it again, and again and again...

I've got a couple. One is just like this one, but was on sale for $12.99.

Okay, my point was that even though I don't have a Jensen, I couldn't get my television to play DVDs from the stereo/DVD unit either until I had it hooked up correctly using the yellow-tipped video cable as mentioned by Rossue.

If you are using a single yellow-tipped cable for video (like Karen), you are probably taking the digital image from the DVD player and having it converted to analog to feed it to a digital television that just has to convert it back. This works, but the image will be better if you use an HDMI cable instead (like Leon), which provides a way for the signal to be transferred entirely as digital data.
I'm guessing that there's no HDMI cable built into the trailer, and there might even be a DVD player bad enough to not have an HDMI output, so as Donna says, "Your Mileage May Vary".

Yes. The trailer is in storage for a few more days but as I recall, the television instructions had pics of three cables labeled good, better, and best. I happened to have this on hand so didn't bother buying the "best" and it's good enough for me.

Thanks everyone, I have called Escape and talked to Rease. They failed to run the video cable to the TV jack. Rease is sending me one, in the mean time I bought one so I'm ready for the road when it gets here😃 Karen, my trailer should have had the same set up as yours!
For future Escape owners, make sure you go through all the options and how they works!
As for me 😄 I am happy! Redwoods next week! 😊
