... wouldn't it be nice to have a nearly silent 300 watt generator just to recharge the battery? Some day we'll be talking about hydrogen fuel cells for RV power.
You can get a methanol fuel cell now, which is much more practical to fuel than a hydrogen cell... but think in terms of much lower power and continuous operation, and be prepared to spend! EFOY 80 EComfort 12V Energy Fuel Cell
Just found this AC/DC fridge as well. They're made in Eugene Oregon. The folks there are very nice and gave me some details about the amperage draw/power requirements. The 5CF model draws 5 amps at 12V, and uses a Colku compressor - not a Danfoss. It's also available at Home Depot for $799.
Although it's very hard to estimate the solar required to run this effectively in hot areas (too many variables), the tech at Grape Solar thinks 300W of solar would be adequate - maybe less.
I would think the stock ETI solar panel now installed can produce double that and with a 50% run time that is 60 a/h a day, way under the dual 6 volt capacity.

Yessir, I agree, with what I know so far. And, the price is WAY lower than a Novakool. Plus, comparing the dimensions with the Dometic, it WILL fit through the door. Having said all that, I'm in 'wait and see' mode on Reace's solution.
