I removed the propane tanks cover and see nothing that would cause me to do anything but put the cover back on.

Maybe get your son-in-law(who seems to do some work) to take the tray off so you can inspect the bottom of the tray where it sits on top of the frame.

Son-in-law is busy shopping for car seats and strollers.
If nothing else, I discovered I had an empty tank. As for rust, I think I'll just keep an eye on it and if necessary in 20 years, I'll install larger screws.
