Many people drive their tow vehicle for other purposes perhaps 90% of the time. If that's you, it would make sense to also ask if vehicles being considered get similar fuel economy when not towing.

7000 miles with ours without a problem. We share the concern of others with regard to the small gas tank. Also you can't open the rear door while hooked up which is a pain. Mileage with are 17 b is 15 mpg while towing and 23 or so when not towing. Make sure you have the tow package with the 2011 or 2012 model. It's not always easy to ascertain the existence of this package. All in all I don't regret the decision to go with this vehicle.

Right now I'm about 60% towing & 40% non towing. While I do appreciate the 23-25MPG unhooked with the RAV4, I realize I will most likely not get that king of unhooked mileage with a truck (well, maybe if it was a diesel, but I'm not going there). As to the 15MPG towing, somehow that seems to be a magic number. For almost everyone towing, no matter what the tow vehicle, 15MPG keeps popping up. I'd hope to get that with a Tacoma or Frontier, but I'm also looking at the Colorado.
