They don't. It's just that that particular style shown in most posts matches the oak finish in the Escape trailers. Umbra itself makes many different styles of hooks in addition to the oak-finished...

I did not have the walls reinforced for my two Umbra hooks (2+3). I hang a walking stick, keys, and coats on one and camera, binocs and hats on the other so no need. But you may want to consider it...
