Yes, we find the refrigerator warming up during travel does happen, but on the other hand we've rarely gone from set up in camp to set up in the next one with as little as 8 hours, and never in less...

12 volt operation would serve the same purpose, if you are willing to wait longer (lower-power heating element) and have enough battery capacity to handle a few hours.
