It was a lot of years ago when I wrote the exam, and only as part of my training, not to become an electrician, but back then the Canadian Electrical Code required a dedicated circuit for microwaves....

On my 19 Circuit #1 powers both the microwave and the converter. There is a splice in the wires. If my m/w outlet wasn't working that's an item I'd check. Your wiring may be different.
