No doubt there's a bottom limit to thickness...

No doubt there's a bottom limit to thickness that's suitable for screws without them stripping but I haven't found that to be a problem. And super thin f.g. wouldn't be all that good for a rivet...

Gotta disagree with you Glenn. I'd much rather replace rivets with s/s screws, nice controlled tightening and if future work is needed, no drilling out rivets.

If I was using rivets I'd use 1/8"...
