Nope. Rather not have to futz with that. I am going to insulate the recess in the freezer door first though; less heat getting in there should help with chilling the fridge section as it's downstream...

With the fan arrangement, seems like they should stratify the air path pretty well. Possibly induce a bit of flow alongside the boiler shield. Just a theory!
